    i have a 75g tank and am a newbie look for a step by step cheap simple sump/refugium around 20g or so please help like materials list price and step by step instructions i have a 10g tank also a canister filter dont know if i could use them some how please comment thank you

    Is your tank drilled or do you have an external overflow? What kind of skimmer, return pump, what goals would you like for your sump/fuge to achieve?

    I suggest you search around youtube to get a better idea of what you want to accomplish.....just search reef sump, refugium, etc..... heres one video that helped me when i first started out...

    10 gallon would be too small. Do a 20 long for it. It will give you lots of room and they are like $30 at petsmart

    thank you i gathered a little more of an idea ill tell you my plans maybe you can get me some pointers on where and what to get for some of it look for a cheaper way. i will probably get something like a 30g tank would like to know what i could do for an external overflow likes or ideas would be great or any other way i could get water to the sump, also wonder if i need dividers an can i do a sump/refu in the same tank also maybe some links to some pumps along with any advise tips or pictures of step by step process please reply like i said a complete newbie an want to get it right the first time thank all you for your kind help

    here are a couple pics of my design. I ended up using a 10 gallon for a refugium (holds my macro algae). 20 gallon tank for a sump that holds my protein skimmer and return pump.

    what you cant see in the pics is that the 10 gallon is drilled on the end so that it overflows into the sump.
