I was wondering if someone could help me out.
I have 90gal tank and currently keeping mostly SPS and LPS. 2-3 weeks ago I bought a Green Palau Nephthea and Fuji green toadstool coral. After 1 week some of my Acros are started to have white patches in the center, bleaching and colours are peeling off.
At this stage I have no clue if there are bugs in my tank or simply the new corals releases some toxic that my Acros doesn't like.
I have stopped using carbon for little over 2 months, and since found about this I added carbon.
What could have caused this? What steps should I take to diagnose this problem?
    Here are my parameters.
    Temp 78F
    Calcium 430

    Mag 1350
    dKH 10.6
Nitrate 20 ppm (a bit high)

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

well, I'm no expert but i can advise you based on experience from my friend's tanks. the 20ppm in nitrates are a bit high but nothing excessive to the point where it would cause bleaching and peeling of the acros. You would see a lack of polyp extension and over time you might see gradual bleaching but it wouldnt be in certain spots.

Do you dip your corals? Was the acro a frag or a mini colony? Was it on a plug or on some rock? do you notice any wrasses or shrimp picking at the acros? flatworms tend to lay their eggs at the base of the frags and eat from there up. Red bugs tend to eat the polyps from the tips down to the base. You can see the red bugs with the un aided eye because they are red. The flat worms are harder to see. you'll see flesh peeling off and bleaching spots. It sounds like you may have flat worms. certain types of wrasses will help if they infection is now so big.

Leathers and SPS are NOT friends. You must run carbon constantly or your acros will suffer.

I saw some small eggs on my frag rack but think nothing of it. I took a few corals out and use iodine dip but didn’t see any flat worms. Maybe I may have missed them.

I just found out and will replace carbon every 3 weeks.

Anyways, I think I found some bugs living inside the coral. I have googled it but couldn’t find anything. Here are some pictures and hopefully someone can identify it for me.

but that last image looks like a barnacle to me

I have just been researching Barnacles in Acropora corals
and its not uncommon to have commensal barnancles in SPS corals
and from what I have read thus far, they do not do any harm to the coral

the other 3 images I am not sure about
but if a wafting fan comes out of them, then that would be a positive sign it was barnacles IMO

Thanks Steve. The coral were bleaching so I frag most of it. But saw at least 10+ of those white spots so I cracked them open and posted it. I will do research on Barnacles.

So if they are harmless then it could be the leather that causes this coral to peel off?

It is a dry heat, yeah right !

Me too, looks like preditory polyclad worms, but if they are not moving than that can not be it.

Flatworms create hole in the coral? I had to use a coral cutter to crack it open in order to see them.

They don't move around, but if I remove them from the coral they might move a bit.

Is this something I should be concerned about?
