Well not only moving the tank, but changing tanks at the same time as well.
Long story short I started a new thread months ago http://www.3reef.com/forums/show-off-your-fish-tanks/jims-75g-build-thread-77912.html, Shortly after decided I would attempt to buy a house I've had my eyes on. Didn't want to set up the new 75 in the house I'm renting just to take it all back down to move into the new house. After months of waiting things are really starting to look promising on this house (buying a forecloser is a real pain I've come to find). I'm dying to get this 75 going.
Anyways, when I move into the new house a want to have the 75 somewhat ready to go. On the stand, all lighting, plumbing, electrical in place, etc.. Problem is I have my 20dt w/ 20 fuge setup and running now. I want to use the two 20's for the sump and fuge for the 75.
I can have the 75 full of sand and water and I already have about 100lbs baserock for it, as well as the 40lbs live rock coming out of my current setup. But what do I do with the corals, fish, verts, mangroves, cheato, etc if the 75 is cycling??? I'll be using the 2 tanks everything is in now so i won't have anywhere to put them.
Even If I can find a temporary home for the fish and corals can the chaeto and mangroves live in a cycling tank?
I have a spare 10g laying around, if I only get a small cycle I wonder if I can put the fish, corals, and verts in the for a week or so?
    Any ideas?

the mangroves/chateo will be fine in a cycling tank, probably even thrive. corals on the other hand will not.

also since you are moving all the live rock from your current setup to the new one your cycle will be much shorter(my recent upgrade 55 to 120 mini cycle was done within 48 hours)

the 10g tank should be fine for keeping them a couple days, if you feel like they need more room a 18g rubbermaid costs like 8-10 bucks and will work just as good with twice the space. If your 20g had a skimmer i would run it on whatever is holding your livestock during the cycle, if not just change about 1/3 of the water in the holding tank each day

and yeah foreclosures are a pain in the butt, the house i live in now was a foreclosure, it took like 4 months to close, and the people that had lost it had taken everything not nailed down including the toilets, and bathroom sink.

    rdarris,
That's great news on the short cycle, hopefully same will happen with me.
And I'm relieved I will be able to keep the mangroves and cheato in the 75 while cycling, I have a ton of it and didn't want to have to throw it out.

Great idea on the rubbermaid container, would be much better than the little 10g I think. I do not have a skimmer in the current setup but a couple powerheads running and daily waterchanges should easy enough.

But what about lighting? Do you think just hanging a cheap light over the rubbermaid container would be sufficient for the corals if the cycle lasts a week or so?

Maybe keeping the fish and verts in the 10g and the corals in the rubbermaid or vice-versa would work out best?

And yea we've been working on this forecloser for a few months now. Seems like things are just now starting to look positive. The house has been vacant for over two years now, you would think the bank would bend over backwards to somebody offering money for it. But nope, they just drag you along as if your money means nothing...Then again, the house was worth over $500K a few years ago. I was basically laughed at and kicked out of their office when I offered $55K :loco:. But sure enough they called my broker a few weeks later asking if we could "work something out" ;). The house needs a TON of work, but of all the foreclosers I've looked at this one actually still has the A/C units, toilets, water heater, etc.. Just no kitchen appliances.

Thanks for the help, K+ to you my friend!
