    Good job on the rocks!

Got a question for ya...what do you use to shape your rock in? I used the Quikcrete sand from homedepot and the sand is stuck on the rock after it harden. I can only scrub the loose ones off, but a lot still stuck on the rock.

Would it be a problem in the fish tank? Will the sand always have silica in them? Or the silica will leak out when the rocks being cure in water?

    Thanks!

This style of rock is just portland cement and a ton of rock salt. The cement is mixed real dry. Kinda like play dough then the salt is mixed in. It is solid enough right a way that it is just hand shaped. In the first pic you can see them on the picnic table. Just grab a handful from the tub plop it on the table and shape it as needed.

I farely sure the silca in the play sand is insoluble. I don't think it would hurt anything.

    Thanks Covey!

Also, rock salt...what is it? Is it any different from the one we buy from Publix or any grocery store? ...the one we make our food tasty? (sorry for the stupid Q :-[ )

    Thanks!

    Another update.
I never did post pics of the direct feed and I thought I would post some pics of some nice goop. I wet skim so I don't have any coffee skim pics. It is more a tea colored but I do have some good detritus splatter pics. This is day 3 before I cleaned it.
The best pic of the direct feed too.

and yes I did sell out. I ended up not going with T-5s for simplicitys sake. The wiring on a massive t-5 setup is a pain. Not to metion not cheap. That and Icecap doesn't make 60" SLR.

So electric bill be damned I am going with 3x400W 20K XM.

    Should be here next week.

That sounds Great!! I really want to know what you think of the XM 20k's
I need to replace my metal halides and wanted a little more blue without sacrificing the much needed par...

The XM bulb was designed for the magnetic ballast.
Here is the par (ppfd) difference between the 15k and the 20k bulb
