Sorry to hear about your luck. Did you watch the two videos I posted? I know each skimmer can be different, but I honestly don't have this problem.

That is a good point! I have noticed my water is evaporating faster as well. I guess I will have to make some sort of cover lol.

Thanks for sharing! I just upgraded my 40 to a 75, and purchased the refugium/skimmer combo. I'm quite satisfied.

That is awesome to hear! I looked into those, but I didn't want to mess around to much with my current filtratuion set up.

Just an update, this thing is still producing some nasty stuff lol. It's doing an awesome job, and my phosphates are almost non detectable now.

I'm running the same skimmer on my 60 gal hexagon. I've been using it for a year now. It's a great skimmer. I had A LOT of issues with microbubbles for the first 2 months, but after algae starting growing on the walls of the skimmer, the microbubbles stopped. I also hide my heater in my Bak-Pak. It keeps the water at the right temp, but I don't have to look at my hearter in the DT. The only lasting issue I've experienced is my airline on my pump gets clogged frequently with salt.

I had problems with micro bubbles for about 2 weeks. I had to watch some videos on CPR's website to help me out. I think I have those posted though. I will have to keep an eye on the air line, ty.

Anyone having issues with a noisy pump? I bought mine used, its the original back pack. I assume its a bit worn out. I figured id ask here before spending $ on a new pump for it.

I'm not having any issues at all with my pump. I would guess your is just a little worn out is all. Other then that, how is your skimmer working?

Other than the noise it does all right. Im sure I can adjust it a bit more to get better results. I have it in my sump where I can't see the collection cup. I can see the bottom of the cup and can pull it out to check the skim once in a while and for cleaning. Since its in the next chamber after a filter sock running phos-ban it doesn't skim too much. I do get a lot of nasty green film on the inside just not a lot of water buildup. I plan on buying a new pump as this one is a bit disturbing with the amount of noise it makes. If it wasn't for that my tank would be silent. But overall I'm happy with it.
