Any thoughts? It was recommended to me by my LFS. Just curious to see what you all think. It was initially recommended for use with a 55-75 gallon-ish tank. I may however be looking for a larger like 90-100. Do you think it would work ok with those sizes? Or any better skimmers without a rediculous price tag?

    Thanks guys & gals,

    -Ben

Are you looking for HOB(hang on back)? or do you have a sump?

Way better skimmers out there for the price, specially when you figure in the costs of the mods to get it working right ;)

Nano- initially I was going to have a HOB, but now i'm considering a sump after reading all the benefits of them. I'm tyring to ask a ton of stuff to make all my decisions before spending the money setting up lol. Anyways, if it were for a sump, what would you recommend? or Packleader - what do you consider better for the price than the CPR?
    Thanks guys!

Never had a sump so I am no help there! as for a HOB if you decide, again I am no help other than to say that this Aqua C Remora is OK but in all honesty my Prism Pro was pulling out darker skimmate than this thing is as of now... Sorry, those are really the only two skimmers I have experience with, oddly enough both are HOB ;D

Well, in sump or HOB? Are you going with the bigger tank? In all honesty, the CPR would be pushing it on the 55-75 tanks, no way no how would it work on a 100. So the price range thing is tough to apply to something like that.
If you went with a 55-75, for the HOB I would recommend an octopus bh-100F. I have one on my 40, and absolutely love it. I think there are a few Octopus's that are even higher rated than mine, which is what you would want if you went with a 75.
Now if you went with a 75-100, your not going to want to do HOB. Get a sump/fuge and do it the right way. Also, HOB stuff will never be as powerful or high quality as in-sump stuff. That's just the way it goes. So the bigger stuff, I would again look to the octopus extreme line, a Bullet 1 or 2, and I have been hearing great things on the various ASM G-series of skimmers. I am going with a ASM G-4X on my 200, so I will definitely no more about them shortly ;)

Where do you live? Maybe we can help you find a local reef club and see if there are any used one's out there before spending the dough on a brand spankin new one, also I have found craigslist to be a gold-mine for people getting out of the hobby and have no idea what they have or how much it's worth!

I've always been skeptical of the craig'slist thing. I mean don't get me wrong I'd love to save some money; Do you guys think buying new is better? Also Pack Leader - Do you know what kinda price range I'm looking at to do a sump/fuge for a 90 or 100 gallon? Oh, and nano- Southern California, but I don't know how to find reef clubs lol.

lol! any way to be more specific? hard to find one with such a broad term, and there are a lot of people from Cali here, might be worth it to send them a private message and see what they can come up with. If you don't want to give it out over the net it's cool, but I can safely say I have no ambition to hunt you down and find you  although a visit to California would be really cool :)
