cpr cs100 overflow

Is anyone using this hob overflow? I can get one from a local seller and wondering if its a decent overflow or if I should go with a u tube design. Also I'd a aqulifter pump required or can I run it without?

I have used them in past. Loved the slim line look and the little room in the tank. Yes you need the aqua lift pump to remove the air out of the siphon. If you go that route make sure to get a filter for it to help extend the life of the pump. Also I would recommend keeping a back up one on deck in case of failure. Mine did a few times and came home to an empty sump and water on the floor and the sump pump running dry. My 2 cents

Has anybody had any experience with this box and company?

 

Have never seen that one before but it seems to be similar to the Eshopps that I use.The price is comparable to my Eshopps 300gph model,I didn't see a GPH rating on the one in the link.My Eshopps has been working fine since being installed about ten months ago.I turn off my return pump almost daily for feeding and it has never lost siphon,not once since being installed.

 

The one in the link is rated at 600gph

 

I would absolutely go with a u tube design. My works great. I turn off my return pump too feed daily and never had an issue. They don't lose syphon - IF - you keep the flow fast enough to push the microbubbles thru it.

So next question is what size tank?

Also, if you don't have water in the tank yet, do yourself a favor and drill baby drill.
Get an overflow and a return kit from gla$$-holes. This will be the best money you can spend if you're just building your tank right now.
Or you can live and learn like the rest of us, myself included.

Using a $14 aqulifter to ensure your overflow doesn't flood your house is a redonkulous idea to a flawed design in my opinion.

 

I'm actually going with a diy PVC overflow. Thanks for the help though.
