Hey pellet fans - you might recall from way back when those cool little pellet reactors CPR was working on? I bet some of you 3reefers do as you were beta-testers. Well guess what? They actually shipped out this week to stores that pre-ordered them. Be on the look out and get your tumble on.

Very cool idea! I think they even sell a Nano version that fits back into the second chamber of the BC29.

I dont understand running bio pellets in a AIO system. You MUST have a very capable overrated skimmer in order to skim out the bacteria. And it just seems to me that will be impossible in such a small area, like on bio cubes.

Agreed, unless like you mentioned you have a skimmer powerful enough.

Have you seen my BP build yet?

I think you're right that a skimmer is needed to skim out the excess bacteria, but generally, I think that problems with excess bacteria are often significantly compounded from using more biopellets than is really needed for that particular system. Some skimmers in AIO systems are better than others, but the amount of pellets being used will certainly affect what results too.

I usually only see one recommendation on packaging regarding the amount of bio pellets to use, but in my experience, the amount needed is often less than what is listed. Of course this amount will vary from tank to tank (given the starting Nitrate/Phos levels) and the type of tank (SPS dominant, mixed, etc.). One thing I also notice is that people generally keep using the same amount of pellets even after bringing the Nitrate/Phos levels all the way down to the desired level. In my experience, that's not necessary to keep the levels constant. Just something to consider.

Also, don't forget that you can use the Tumblers with many chemical media including things like GFO, carbon, other phosphate removing media like Phosgard, or ion-based media (like chemipure). We designed it to be used with multiple types of media so that you can choose what fits best for you. We offer a Fine Media Kit as well, so that fine media can be used more easily.

Users will find a dramatic difference in media performance when comparing the in-the-bag method versus having it fluidized properly in the Tumbler.

Thanks for the comments...off to Reef-A-Polooza. Happy Reefing!

Here's a video of the Nano Tumbler with 200 ml of bio pellets running inside.
