Crab ID help please!

    Well well .... look what we got here !!

    This guy hitched a ride on the live rock ...... scared the sh*t out of me. What kind of crab is this and is he bad news for the tank?

    I wouldn't trust any crab that hitched in with live rock so get it out asap if you can

    i dont know but i have 2 of them that hitched on some LR and they havent seem to caused any problems they stay in the same spot and every once in a while i spot feed them. and i did try to get them out without success.

    I have the same crab. When I found him, it was the size of a nickle and now he's a little bigger then a quarter. I've been keeping a close eye on him because I can't catch him. He stays on the rocks and doing a great job cleaning it.

    I wouldn't trust any crab at all !!!!! Even the So called ( Reef Safe ) ones ::)

    Some have said that when they clamp on food, they will not let go. Use this to your advantage and feed him a big chunk of food and pull him out fast. It's worth a shot although I've never tried it myself. ;D

    I got him!

    I took out the rock which he hid in and prodded him out of his hole using a thin piece of flexible plastic. Took me about 30 minutes.

    ;)
