Crab ID

    Uggh cleaner shrimps. I love the guys but they are a pain when you are trying to catch something. Is the cleaner shrimp significantly larger than the crab to where this is possible?

    If so definitely get a glass your shrimp wont fit. Otherwise as soon as your trap hits the water your cleaner shrimp will be inside of it stealing the bait.

    It turns out that one of my corals feel down behind my LR, so while I was removing rock to rescue it, I just did a little extra work and evicted the crab. It is living in my sump for now.

    I'll post a better pic of it if anyone is interested.

    Well good, its nice when things work out. You are happy, wife is happy and the crab still has his life.

    This is an easy crab to id because of the distinctive color pattern on its carapace. Atergatis floridus, the egg crab (because the shell is smooth & round like an egg).

    Try putting the sea star in a glass jar to attract the crab into the trap. ;)
