i dont think it is reef safe by the looks, but i wouldnt kill it, you could atleast let him live in your sump or fuge.

i try to avoid culling at all cost, after all im the one that took the stuff out of its evironment for my enjoyment.

Steve - I moved the tank into the basement and caught this beast when I removed all of the rock. I don't think that trap would have worked either.

Infamous - I did read that thread when you put it up, that's what got me looking for that crab even more. Maybe now I can keep some different corals without them being a meal.

Think the crabs going in the fuge today.

That looks like the same crab I had that was a hitchhiker and when I changed tanks I caught him and brought him to the LFS and they said he was a stone crab and they are mean as can be. He ate my baby hippo tang! They are not reef safe! Get him out when you can. Good luck because that's easier said then done as I was only able to get him when I dragged him out of a rock I was moving over to my new tank and I just by chance caught a glimse of him. Is he like a reddish brown color? Here is a couple of not so good pictures I tried to take of him when he was in my tank.

Its new home is in the fuge now, don't think it will cause any problems in there.

I caught a red eyed crab like that, it was eating snails like crazy!! I tried traps, didn't work, had to take 75 percent of rock out til I found it in a big piece. Put that piece in my QT then the shrimp in a tall glass against rock worked to trap it. It's still in QT waiting to trade it at LFS!! Evil crabs for sure in DT
