I have an obsession with crabs and urchins Despite them being pains in the butt and knocking everything over.

I had emerald crabs for a while, but you never really saw them

are there any crabs that actually come out during the day and are interesting and are reef safe

I have a sally lightfoot that is always out. They get alot of mixed reviews but I have had mine for about 6 months now without any problems in a reef tank. Just keep him well fed. It molts in one big complete piece molt which still freaks me out when I see it.

I also have a longspine urchin for quite some time that is doing well. I have had it mow down a fresh frag of 2 magician pali's once but outside of that never any issues.

sure if you don't mind them steeling food from your corals... Mine was a pain in the tail. Everytime I fed my sebae he was trying to steal the food. I had to keep a long dowel around to keep it at bay while feeding the sebae. Urchins are cool but my tuxedo would crawl over everything and always was picking up my hermits...

A larger tank may be more suitable for these and yours may fit the bill.

Those would be porcelain crabs, and they stay out some and hide some.
