220 gal Oceanic Aquarium complete set up - $650 - (White Marsh Maryland) pic general

Went and took a look at this older tank and knew it was such a great price I'd better snatch it up. THIS TANK IS A BEAST!Current sump set up won't work for me as it is run up 14 feet from his basement and I have a no basement. Would like to try and put in a tank underneath for the sump.

What size tank would you all suggest?

Another question as I'm a newb. This tank is overgrown with small green anemones as he described them. Suggested I scrub off the rock and get new substrate but hate to do that if I could just keep em under control without the expense of new substrate.

    Thanks!

i think this is pretty cool. but definitely ask him what is up with the lights because they dont look like 3x400 MH to me. also, if i were to get this tank, i would just take it all down, scrub EVERYTHING, and start fresh.

where are you from!? sounds like an AMAZING deal... I would recommend going with a new sand bed because sometimes you can get some real nasties in there. Just add a little bit of the old bed into the new one to get the organisms to spread

Forget it - Dont Do It!!!...it looks like there is a scratch on the right door on the bottom.

J/K.....holy christ thats an amazing deal....if you went to look at it and it looks to be in good shape go for it.

Even if you have to start from scratch ...its still an amazing deal!!!

That is awesome! Agreed I would tear it all down, clean it up, and start over.
+1 with patrick, does not look like 3x400w MH to me either. But still a great deal. DO IT!!!

it very well might be 3x400 MH, with broken reflectors, 1 burnt bulb, 1x5 year old 20,000k, and 1 new 10,000k haha

(jim and I are emphasizing the CHECK factor :) )

Dingo, I'm located in Churchton, MD just south of Annapolis. Wanna come and help me get it moved and set up again? LOL! The prospect is exciting but overwhelming at the same time.

I should have added that he mentioned the bulbs do need to be replaced but he said it shouldn't be an issue. He said he could come down a bit on price if I didn't take all the lights. I told him nope, I'll take the whole setup.

Added "throw ins" included cabbage coral, neon green hammer coral, a white colored gorgonian about 18"-20" tall, live rock, a 4" Tomato Clown, a damsel or two and two brown colored tangs-possible Scopa Tangs. I'll ask him the species.

Most fish he has in there currently range from 14 years old to 2 years old. Wish I could snag the incredible Flame Angel he has but alas, he is keeping that one.

I'm sure I'll be asking you all more questions and sure appreciate all your input.

    Thanks!
