Does this seem right? I am not going to buy one, but I thought his price was a little high. I understand that he got them to eat fronzen foods.

Does it seem right? No. Is it wrong? I couldn't say.

All you can hope for is an opinion here. :)

There are articles out there explaining how to coax a mandarin to eat foods other than copepods, but I have no experience trying, so I don't know if those articles are based in fact.

If they are, then you could buy any mandarin yourself and stand a pretty good chance of getting them to eat mysis, for example. If the articles are bunk, then this guy is a motivated salesman, or has the holy grail in his closet.

They say something is worth what YOU'RE willing to pay. I know you said you weren't planning on buying one, but for those who might consider it--the only question is whether or not you're OK dropping $150 on a fish whose price is normally in the range of $16 to $30.

I think it is amazing that he was able to successfully breed them in captivity. That is a great accomplishment. On the other hand, wow is that expensive.

I want to know how they are immune to ick...didn't know you could be immune to a parasite.

I'm not 100% on this but I think they don't get ich because of thier slime coat

How is their slime coat different from other fish? All fish have a protective coating of slime. As well as most fish already have ick and it is the stress that fish may go through that escalates the issue with the parasite.

Not trying to be rude, I would love to know how it works if that is correct. I think it would be a cool little "did you know..." fact.

I could be wrong but I believe mandarins are scale less making them less prone to ich. They aren't completely immune to it though, just their body types make them more resistant.
