Thanks for the Help. Yeah, I wasn't sure about paypal. He/She trying to buy my RC Truck wanted to send a check. (certified one?) I am not sure what Certified check actually means. I first stated a check was fine and gave my address, then thought no I better not, because of freud. I then sent another email stating cash only and I wouldn't let the truck go without cash in hand. He also said something about a shipper would pick it up. I thought this to be strange.
Thanks for the help everyone. I never deal online, so I am learning from people I can trust to help me out.

Did they refer to your RC as an item?Like-is your ITEM still for sale?Thats another sure sign of something crooked going on.

hehe,glad it didn't feel right and you didn't get ripped off or your identity stolen.I'm a professional craigslister (lol),i buy,sell and trade often on there,I've seen a boatload of scam attempts.I've met a buncha great people on there in my wheelin and dealins,but i've also met my fair share of fruit loops too.

 

Your right there are a bunch of fruit loops out there. haha I will come to you for all my craiglisting needs then.
I emailed my name and address though, which I shouldn't have.

 

This happened to me as well when trying to sell my old car.
"A shipper will pick it up, so I'm making a check for this much more money that what u asked so you can western union or cashier check his fee on arrival" I went as far as giving them the name and address too and they sent me a VERY legitimately looking cashier check. In fact they look so good, that banks will cash it and take 3 to 5 days to realize the account on it and the money were fake.... now u are out of your "Item", you paid the scammer with your own money to "Ship it" and the bank comes and says "excuse me... u owe us 9grand.... remember that cashier check a few days back?... well.... its fake.... so we took the money from your account. Thanks!"

Of course I did do some reading and asking just like u did now and didn't get to deposit the check. Just got lucky that I got suspicious on time with the shipper thing. Glad u didn't go for it as well.

CL is great...but you do have to be careful...they old adage "if it seem to good to be true" has never been spot on than with CL...I would NEVER do anything but cash on CL...cashiers checks and money orders are so easy to fake with scanners and printers these days they really are not any safer than a personal check...I bought a used truck from a small local lot not too long ago, and they have been scammed so many times on cashiers checks they wouldn't take anything but cash.

 

You can still file a dispute witt paypal if u send someone money and something doesnt work out. Just be sure to in the describe area list everything about the transaction

But I like cash money in hand
