yup the lighter is just for size reference also as far as keeping sps yea i know it will be a challenge but that is the idea =P. i figured daily or every other day water changes to keep up with nutrients and such. since its only 3 gallons a party cup or so should be plenty i figured.

this looks really cool. I cant wait to see it with SPS in there. Have you thought about getting one of those tiny little red gobys? They only grow to about 1.5 inches..

well, i went with the 12k and i was fighting between the 2 for a while then i saw they wouldn't have stock till late june on the 20k so that made my mind up real quick, and i went with the 60 degree optics. i figured i've never seen one might as well see what the "middle" looks like. oh yea i forgot to ask how hot do these things run? did u see an increase in tank temp at all?

yea me to!! the wait is killin me especially since my lfs deciedes to have its anniversary sale the week i get back into it. sucked having to go and see all those frags so cheap and i couldn't have any. and which goby are u reffering i was thinking either neon goby, or zebra striped catlina

-edit now i am reconsidering the catalina goby as i just read they are really a temperate cold water fish not tropical, although their have been reports of the striped zebra having ranges into the tropical waters but really they can thrive/tolerate the cooler temperate waters as well.

I have the same tank. I would recommend picking up and aquaclear 70 filter and modding it into a hob fuge. That will allow you to hide the heater along with running an opposite lighting schedual than the display. It has helped my tank a ton. Just throwing that out there. Looking great though! Gotta love leds.

yea ive been debating on getting the hob filter and i think for 15 bucks it is worth it. i do plan on attempting a diy tank in the near future as 3 gallons just isnt enough and i want a sump. i did think about attempting to build a fuge onto the back of the tank big enough to hold the smallest skimmer i can find lol.
