    In the future, if anything is happening in the house i.e. painting, carpet cleaning etc. get a large enough sheet to cover the entire tank and wet it thoroughly and cover the tank with the wet sheet, just take the heat from the lights into consideration and turn them off.

    by wetting the sheet , wouldnt that absorb or conduct any vapors that are floating around? just a thought.

    You should call the company and tell them to ask if there are any delicate areas in the house they should know of (such as your tank) from now on..

    It should catch the vapors in sufficient quantity to keep them from getting into the air in contact with the tank.

    but then wouldnt you have to worry about droplets getting into the water column?

    My understanding is the wet (not dripping) sheet acts as a barrier by expanding the fibers, the fumes are mostly deflected or should I say not allowed through. As the cloth starts to dry any fumes left (fans are a must also) will be trapped in the cloth, very little will get in the tank. A hood fan is also helpful. I have used this method in both the wet and dry version with no incidents.
