    I would *think* so

yeah, it catches them a few inches from your water... I dunno about this.

I would really really think so. Any sheet is going to have a droop. And that droop will cause drips. Basic boy scout method of water reclimation in the wild really. Those drips would be particularly nasty...

And I guess we're not talking time frames either here... A wet sheet won't stay wet all that long really...

Anyway, for *my* tank, if this comes up, I'll be using plastic sheeting and duct tape to seal leaks with the airline on my skimmer routed outside to keep fresh O (air line tubing is super cheap).

We're well aware that this is chemistry and molecular physics rather than rocket science.

Glad you received some sort of compensation. But at the same time, sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear of the loss. I would suggest using plastic taped to the tank and filter for anyone else faced with this challenge in the future. When the floors are resurfaced the sanding produces incredibly small particles of dust that permeate everything and everywhere. My money would be on these particles more so than the fumes, Polyurethane is some nasty stuff – but the house was also well ventilated.

I am glad your home owners is covering it, but consider not selling yet – once you move and settle in you may want to get back into the hobby and it may end up costing more in the long run. Besides, you could always choose to sell your stuff later. Good luck.

Naw, none of that either....simply finding a way to prevent contamination. There are always more than one way to get something accomplished and a lot of times they are equally effective.

I'm sorry to hear about this problem. I'm a home painter and we use all kinds of harmful finishes from Lacquer to solvent based coatings and two part catalyst paints.

As a rule, we request any pet removed from the area. If the pet is still in the room at the time of work, we just go to the the next job.

We had a job like that with a marine tank. No corals, since it was a FOWLR tank, but we had to tape every single part of it with plastic film. We made it almost airtight and had to buy 2 aireator pumps which had respirator masks taped on the intake... i know it sounds crazy, but it works. The output is simply not a problem; air will find a way out.
You just spend a lot of tape and somebody's mask for a couple of days. The air will keep the tank oxygenated. This is the steps we follow in these cases where pets cannot be moved. Which is almost always fish tanks.
If we fail to perform this procedure, we ware automatically fired by our boss.

He also nuked a tank in his early years and now he knows better. Salt Water tanks are expensive and according to him a $500 job cost him almost 3 grand since owners didn't want to keep the same tank after everything in it was dead.

    Glad you got compensation though.
