My adventure did not turn out as well....
I had lost my mandarin in my old tank. I figured he was just in the rockwork somewhere as I had a lid on it.

Welllll, about 2 weeks later my pup jumps into bed with me carrying something. She drops right on my head this dried up shriveled green mandarin. I jump up and the fish falls onto the pillow!

Not as happy of an ending as your story...but funny just the same!

Amazing story! Now are you planning to cover the top of the tank?

Nope, no plans for covering the tank. My blenny has a habit of jumping into my HOB filter to get at algae. What I think happened is this time he missed. ::) I hope to have my fuge up and running soon, in which case, the HOB filter will be gone, hopefully eliminating the problem.

How can you be sure the EB won't just jump out of the tank to where he thinks that delicious crop of algae should be once the HOB filter is gone?

The HOB filter kinda goes into the water, as to lure him in, so I dont think it would be too much of a problem.

When I was a kid I used to have a few of these in a 55g and the same thing happened to me even with a covered tank (frogs were fully grown close to 6"L). I had one launch out one night and when I was getting up for school, getting into the shower, I hear my ma scream from downstairs. Not having any clue, I run downstairs and see this dried shriveled thing all full of dirt, dog hair and whatever next to the refrigerator. It wasn't moving but I could see it was still alive so I decided to rinse it off and toss it back into the tank to just see what would happen. It wasn't moving at all just floating but I was running late so I had to leave. Came back from school later that afternoon and the frog was totally fine - swimming and even eating!! I was totally blown away and the thing lived for 5 more years after that!!

On another note, I had a orange spot goby launch when I first got it too. It didnt travel far and i was in the other room to hear the fall but was so surprised that it survived the fall considering it landed on the hardwood floor and bounced around for a while before I could get it back in. It' is still living today and totally fine!

We used to have one of those aquatic frogs. It was one of the "normal ones" as in, not the clawed albinos. Well, George the frog made several trips around our kitchen where the tank was. We found him once under our refrigerator. Once under our washing machine. Both times covered in hair and dirt and crap. He actually travelled around on land almost decently...but not really.

We've also had a Pinkbar goby, our most expensive fish, jump behind the tank. Found him three days later. Bleah. Can you say potato chip? Why can't fish just learn to stay IN the water. At least when land animals jump into water, they can swim. When water animals jump on land, they are screwed.

Man, I guess I know not to get the frogs! I used to have a terrible time with salamanders back when I kept FW. But even those never made it as far as my blenny lol
