Crazy foam skimmer

The last 2 days I added vodka to my system to beat a algae bloom, today my skimmer has gone crazy, I haven turned it off as the cup over flowed 2 or 3 times in a matter of minutes.
Is this normal, do I leave this until tomorrow ? Should I drop some water and do a change ?

I going to assume you added a very minuscule amount.

When I dosed yes I saw more skimmer production but not that much.

I would drop the level in the skimmer but not turn it off, if you get an bacterial bloom in the middle of the night it will take up available oxygen and crash you tank. Yep I crashed a tank that way.

Vodka can have strange effects at night!

 

I dumped 30 gallons of water, I have it turned all the way down and still it's foaming away.
If A splash is half a bottle, then I was almost on the money with my dosing

How much vodka did you add? when i dosed vodka it never affected my skimmer. speaking of crrazy skimmers check this out. not to highjack or anything, but this is what mine is doing right now.

My sump is 150 gallons LoL

I just did another 100 gallon water change.
I hope that cures it

 

o, you were serious about the half a bottle Depending on your total water volume you should have only added a few mL at first and upped it over the course of several weeks. i dosed for two months and only used like an unmeasurable portion of the bottle.

I have 480 gallons and a coral beauty that's as pissed as a fart ;D
It's all good the algae is gone and my skimmer is working again
