Crazy idea, but it just might work?

this is my current set up.
the vertical pvc pipes on the right eliminate the splashing of the return from the skimmer.
the float-switch for my auto-top off is on the right attached to the ghetto-fuge. the return MAG is on that side of the sump.
i just adjusted the flow off the T to raise the level of the fuge to the top of the bucket.
i'm still having issues with some occasional gurgling, belching noises from the overflow but adding a air valve to the top of my Stockman standpipe seems to have helped.

I agree' not that ive done some of this' ive got all drilled tanks for sump/fug .
but ive often thought about buying a "rubber maid" or something with about 12/15 inches deep then put some bulk heads in it' and do a basic grow out tank' for corals , hang a single halide over it . and wala''''' ..

That's pretty much the deal, only uglier! This is the two hour, under $20 build (not counting leftover stuff on hand). Um, no overflow box though, so we'll see how it goes in actual operation tomorrow! (plus I left my drill at work. heh)

kind of reminds me of the first' day i said "honey" im moving to a 220 gal .. gonna put in this wall ...LOL
Ok dear' ... ( she figured ok he's gonna put it on a stand in the corner )
, lmao.. i waited till she went to work (nurse) night shift'.. and knocked the whole in the wall and framed it out in one day so as not to "make her panties get all wadded up ".....LOL

3 years later' she still loves that tank'. but thank god i had all that mess taken care of while she was off at work ,

El Cheapo sump was built today- 14 gal rubbermaid, $2 PVC, a few 90's and two ball valves. Turns out that my 550 Gph pump has enough flow to return water at right about the same rate as the siphon, but it doesn't provide enough directional flow to be useful.

    Back to the drawing board!
