crazy stuff help

I need some help, the other night I saw a fire worm about 3 inches long. The darn thing has eating my new button polyps. Is that what they eat? I must say the the polyp he got looked like it may have already been dead.

The today I was looking at my poor button polyps and there is like 20 nudibranks all over them. They are tiny little things about 1mm long. I don't see them doing any damage but they have the polyps all sucked in trying to hid. Is there a type of nudibrank that eats button polyps?

And finally I have noticed these things that look like barral catus with an opening at the top. They range in size from less than 1mm to 3 mm. What the heck are these things?

Are they button polyps or zooanthids that the nudibranchs are on?

Any chance that you could snap a picture of that worm?

And I have no idea what a "barral catus" is?

I have not been able to get a pic of the worm but here is one I found on the net that looks just like it, as well as a few pics of the strange barral

 

Those are Zoanthid polyps. Buttons look a bit different.

The "barrel" as you are reffering to is a Sycon sponge, sometimes called "Scypha sponge", completely harmless filter feeder.

And yes, the "worm" is a bristleworm aka fire worm. Some are reported to prey on soft corals, especially if they get big. If you want to get rid of it, try getting a coral banded shrimp that's bigger than the worm himself. It might or might not get him, but atleast it'll keep the bastard at bay and the Coral Banded shrimp will help protect your corals. And yes, there are zoanthid eating nudibranchs. There are a few, without a picture, it's hard to say what species it is exactly.

If you spotted 20 or so nudibranch's on the zoo's rock, I would immediately take that rock out and dip it in coral dip or give them an iodine dip quick. Also, try quarantining the rock itself in a well lit area till every single nudi is dead.

After reading a lot of horror stories like that, I dip every coral I bring in to my tank.

can you explain the 'dip' your using? I have Iodine from the LFS what ratio should I use?

Some say to add Iodine until the water turns a little yellowish, you can find exact and safe dosing on the web. You can also use Coral Dip from seachem and follow the directions.
