hey crazyA its looking good, dont worry about the standpipe tube, it wont get saltcreep on it, just attach it to the top of the overflow with some zipties. Its this as a backup only to kick in to full suction if the main overflow fails. Its purposely there for that reason so no worries. Lol o ya prepare to see the power of a c2c beananimal overflow during your dry run, that thing can suck some water!

Yup thats what I've read, I have never seen this system in operation in person before, but the logics seems to be there. My only question with the Bean-Animal is the drain tubes to the sump. To make it silent the tubes should be in the water in the sump (to eliminate splashing). But at start-up i wonder how well the water will purge the air out?.? I'm figuring the pipes to be an inch or so below sump water level??

I cant begin to tell you how excited i am for the day of the dry run !! Only thing I need is a return pump and some basic plumbing..

Thanks devlzluv for the comments :)

well found a little giant on craigslist for a sump return pump. Its brand new in box for $100. Model 4-MDQX-SC. Brother picked it up for me in his town this morning so i will probably drive over sometime next weekend to pick it up. This will return sump and feed equipment.

it will purge all the air out when it overflows, dont get scared cuz ur emergency failsafe will get wet before the syphon starts, just keep the pvc under the water and it will begin again, takes about 2 mins to purge the air itself. Lol no kidding you will never go back to a basic overflow!

Can't wait to see the test run, I'm seriously looking at the same setup for my 150 after I get a job.

    Cool to hear Telgar.
I'm hoping my buddy can swing by and lend me a hand at getting the tank off the stand so i can drill two more holes. My anxiety is sinking in and i have no idea (well probably cause i'm excited). The return pump is still a 6 hour drive round trip to pick up...

well, i got 2 of the three 400w metal halides installed. I had to plug it in to check it out and wow !!!
I do not have a chiller or any cooling fans. I came across a 1/5 hp chiller used for $200 (seen here). Does anyone have any input or experience on cooling temp?
Perhaps it may be too small for the 150gallon with 3 400w halides? with or without cooling fans?.?.
Once i get the 3rd ballast wired in I'll check the temp of the water in my 135 (where I currently have the lights installed)

    Thanks in advance

I found that elevating my 400w MH to 16" over the DT minimizes or eliminates the heat issue, ofcourse i'm only running 1 instead of 3 so you may have more of an issue with it.
