as the subject says, a crocea clam in a jbj 28g LED should be fine right? if we are doing water changes, do we need to be adding anything to the water?

    What sort of LEDs?
How often/how much do you do a WC?
    What salt?
What are your current parameters? (specifically, Ca and Alk)

Yes, it is do-able, but we need to know more about your specifics to say if it's do-able for you. :)

Keep it on the rocks near the top and you will need to supplement calcium and alkalinity.

its the standard LED that come with the jbj 28G LED tank, as I understand they are strong enough for anything. I will have to check on the CA and ALK, I'm sure its good as the water comes prebought from the local fish store and they have nice tanks there.

is there a nice bright clam that would be better?

i dont find led's near as powerful as halides, i had two panorama fixtures from petsolutions.com and they killed several acro colonies in my tank with inadequate light. the light looks good, but halides still outdo them on practically every level. i would put halides over the tank as clams are particularly picky when it comes to lighting requirements. hope that helps

I can't keep it on the sand on the bottom? I thought the LEDs on the jbj are strong enough for anything including sps.

if we change like 10% water a week or something, doesn't that put the required calcium and such back in?

Not true. True if you are only considering panorama's for LEDs. I keep a Maxima 24" deep under CREE LEDs. I'd never go back to MHs.

It does, but possible not as quickly as the clam may consume it. No offense, but I would be very hard pressed to assume water from a LFS was up the levels I prefer. Testing your water is rather important. Even if a LFS provides quality & consistent water, there's always the risk they may have a "bad" batch.
