I have moved my clam up onto the rocks for a few weeks now, he is no longer happy and is jumping off the rocks. I have no other spot for him since he is so big and the rest of the rocks are for other corals.

So if he continues to jump off and not fully open is it ok for him to live on the sand?

    He's an adult crocea that's 5"

Generally they prefer to be up high and on a level surface. See if you can find a flat piece of rock to mount him on even if you need to get it from a LFS. Then when he attaches then you can place him anywhere and move him if need be to a better place.

that is exactly what I did..worked out pretty well..found a rock with a slight dip,and the shell fit right into, left him on the bottom of the tank in said rock within a few day or so he had attached and I could move it to a good happy spot(which turned out was not far from where I started..)..good luck..

They don't like getting blasted by flow, they don't mind strong flow though. Aim the flow away from it.

Can you move the pump up higher without splashing water?

How about sliding the pump to one side or the other of the clam's position.
