OH, that is a bummer! My daughter will be upset! While I always thought he was a bit ridiculous in his stunts and so forth, I never wished this! Very sad, and only 44! He had just begun to live!:(

I thought it was a joke at first. I can't believe he died and freakish at that-a stingray's barb went under his ribcage as he was lying on top of a ray and pierced his heart...Very sad!! I liked him as did my three kids. I know that sometimes he seemed kind of crazy in his approaches to catching poisonous snakes etc., however i'm sure he had a pretty conceived notion of what he was doing and how he was going to go about it without getting hurt.
Well he will be missed by many of us, moreso by his wife Terry and two kids.
Atleast I guess we can say he died doing what he loved to do and hopefully didn't have to suffer. RIP Steve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!thanks for the thrills...

Wow! Wierd that I hear the news on 3reef, before I hear it anywhere else. Steve was pretty cool. I'm thankful that he got to live his life the way he wanted. Sympathy to the Irwin family.

It's ironic. I would figure he would die wrestling crocodiles, but a stingray ended up taking his life.

He was filming a documentary on the GBR.

My daughter put on animal planet and she said, "no mom, he's not dead the news man lied again." Every morning she watches t.v. with me and if they say that its going to rain, she would look out the window, and if its not raining, she will talk to the t.v. and tell him not to lie. She's autistic, she thinks that he's still alive because he's on t.v.. I tried to explain to her that it was a video tape that they were playing, and she still could understand.
