By the way... to answer your questions of places to buy online, my buddy's and I use these guys all the time... Premium Aquatics INC - live rock and aquarium supply They are the cheapest by far but we also do pick-ups. They are great to work with, knowledgeable, and they are a sponsor of 3reef so you are supporting the cause!!!

How are you cycling?? And also, why live rock?? This is a hot topic on here but why not use all base rock?? Saves a lot of dough and you know your not introducing any parasites into your tank. I used well less than half live rock and if I had it to do all over again I would use all base rock. I lucked out and got very "clean" live rock, but I won't go that route again if I ever start a new tank.

Live rock will help with the cycling process and it has lots of coraline on it

IMO: Use base rock, throw a Yellow-Tailed Damsel in there and sit and wait!! Live rock IS a way to cycle, but like I said before who knows what your throwing in there. Coraline will come in time, you just have to be patient. Your tank, your choice.
    Nothin comes quickly in SW.

A 150 lbs of this sand in your 90 will be closer to 4.5 maybe 5 inches of sand.. As for live sand thats a waste of your money just need a pound or so of some starting live sand culture. Thats where you get the needed sand fauna from like the Pods works and mini brittle stars and such.. As for adding more sand later you mentioned 2 more inches thats a no no and as for cycling with rock ? you best add all you want right here and now . You are off to a shaky start now I think ? But hey good luck with the new set up.

hey As long as you wanted to run a DSB with 4 or so inches thats fine with me I was just looking at your top post on this page and saw where you mentioned adding a couple of inches of more sand on top later on and was not sure if you truly under a DSB system . Thats the only reason I even mentioned this .. Good luck :)

According to the chart for my tank 90 GAL 48"l x 18"w x 21" ht 150 lbs of live sand will give me a 2" sand bed.
