Right at the end he had me going on a picture...

But all in all I have never heard such a thing. Does make complete sense when you take what he's done with an aquarium and then compare to a natural reef. He's only taken the home reef to the next step.

The average joe is not gonna think of a cryptic zone in their tank.

So to answer your question "what is my take?"

So many people have refugiums. Why arent cryptic zones as popular?
Since many people take part of their sump and turn it into a refugium...
Couldnt you do the same and make a cryptic zone?

well like he says not for beginners ....and i think sea squirts grow in cryptic zones and im pretty sure they can release toxins but i could deff b wrong there. other then that idk lol i suppose they have great potential.

I think this is a big part of the modern aquarium. LEDs, vodka (or other like zeo, MB7), and cryptic zone filtration is where it's going.
