if you get a pistol shrimp you will want a goby for it. it doesnt absolutly need one but I woudnt get one without the other so you would need a bigger tank. and they arent the best scavengers especially without a goby, they wont ever come out without the gobys protection, at least mine doesnt. I target feed mine with a turkey baster

They usually come out at night. Mine pre-goby wouldn't come out at all during the day, but everywhere at night. Now with goby I see him out and about all day long.

mine lately has been digging tunnels to the very center of my rockwork and the goby cant get to him so hes been goin crazy trying to find him. every once in a while hel make a burrow right in front so i can see him but then he will start a new one some where else. he hasnt stayed in one spot since Ive had him. I wish I got to see him more

haha They dig a ton don't they! I put in little piece of rubble rock for him to make a home under and he can move those smaller rocks. Does your goby swim high in the water column when he can't find the PS? You could try to setup smaller rocks near the front of the tank like in the front corner that the PS could move. He may build a home in the front then. I feel they like the smaller pieces that they can use to build a home. It's only a theory.

ya mines been swimming at the top of the tank which i thought was wierd because he never leaves the shrimp, or even their hole, then i realized it was because he couldnt get to the shrimp. I have some good rubble im gunna try and put in the front ans see if that works, thanks for the tip

Mine hasn't paired up with either goby, and for 2 months all we did was hear it. It finally dug its way to part of the rock in the front corner and I started putting food by the hole for it. It's been there for weeks now & knows what time feedings are LOL.
