I was just wondering what would be a good size clean up crew for an established tank. I have about 5 or 6 bl hermits, one med. sized snail, and two skunk cleaner shrimp. Is this enough to maintain for my tank. Do I need more of anything? And do they create a significant bio load on the tank. Since I inherited the tank, it has been pretty much trouble free. All water param. have been stable, thanks in advance for the help.

how would you describe the general appearance of you tank?
is there much algae? if so what types
does the glass need scraping every other day?

IMO - if your tank looks clean, tidy and your maintenance is normal ( your not cleaning it very often or pulling out clumps of algae at water change time etc0

then you may be OK with what you have

post a picture of your tank - you will then generate ideas from others

and check out Reefcleaners, one of the sponsors on this site, as they can tailor clean up crews to your specific tank needs

Steve, thanks for your opinions. The general appearance of the tank is great. Water is crystal clear, inhabitants are all doing well. No major algae, growing on rocks, but I do have to scrape the glass every three days or so. Its brown, and is only on glass, the little bit that was on the sand is slowly disappearing. I will try to post pix as soon as I can. Thanks again.

Maybe you could start a thread in the "show of your fish tank" section
    that would be cool
