Clean up or not? If so, any suggestions? Thanks.

nope. you want a refuge from things like snails and crabs...

though plenty of people put stuff in there ... it doesn't need a cuc per se

I asked John at reefcleaners about this once and he told me that if you have live rock in your fuge, it was a good idea to have a small CUC to help with detritus in the rocks. Not sure if that works for everyone, but I did put a small CUC in my fuge/sump.

    no, they can't catch them.

that does make sense to me... but where is the detritus coming from? just through the pipes I guess?

i have a CUC in my display fuge. Although some respected members here would disagree, i wouldnt run a fuge without at least some kind of cleanup critters

Yes, just from the overflow. I notice it more when I clean the DT and turkey baste the rocks and get detritus and stuff into the water column. It is not like a huge amount that goes in there and then has a chance to settle in around the rocks, but enough that the small CUC stays happy.

I found that my snails have found their way into the refugium. Though I pick the larger ones out and put them back into the DT.

I was just about to ask this same question. I'm starting to get some Cyno and other types of algae growing in mine. Maybe a couple snails?
