I appreciate all the cycling comments, but I've gotten some direction from Dr. Tim and will follow them while cycling. This thread was for CUC opinions and suggestions. Back to the original topic: CUC: When do you guys add the CUC?

personally not a fan of conches mainly for fear they will die on me. hermits are awesome and fun provided you do some research before buying (1 of the gloden rules) also keep in mind hermits need empty shells iv had a few of my snails fall pray to them for a bigger apartment despite me throwing in several different sized empty shells for them. all in all they are worth it though IMO i have 1 halloween hermit and about 3 or 4 blue white legged ones. funny little dudes.

a CUC is the FIRST thing you add after cycle (and about 1 week later you add your first fish or pair of fish). keep in mind skunk shrimps and fire shrimps are part of CUC as well so feel free to add them.....though i would add snails first and see how they react to the water. if the cycle isnt fully over the shrimps are the first to go.

+1, I like to add a cuc good for about 1/2 the size of my tank around a week after my cycle is done, and then add the other half as some algae starts to grow and i add more fish and start feeding more. The plus of the this is that you don't have to feed your cuc as much, the minus is 2 shipping fee's. If ya get the whole cuc to start you'll just need to feed them every few days.

BTW sorry to get off topic;)
