    The lower salinity is actually better for a FO tank and for IO this is probably 90% or more of there market. So there saying so many cups per gallon is correct. I think a lot of people forget that reefs are a very small part of the total hobby. I only say this because I see the same arguments that companies over rate there skimmers, say the manufacture says it's for 100gal but reefers say it is only good for 50gal tank. The company isn't over rating it, there selling it to the larger market of FO tanks that don't require perfect water quality

    a cup of rice isn't an actual american cup.. its a different unit of measure all together i believe...

    "The rice cup measure is normally 180 ml, approximately 25% smaller than the American measuring cup of 8 (US) fluid ounces / 250 ml."
