got some base rock from a fellow reefer and was wondering what the best way to cure it was? currently I have it sitting in a rubber maid container with RODI water and a 100w heater no salt as of yet. Also anything to test for while its in the rubermaid container? was sugested to me to do a week of fresh water and 3 weeks SW with weekly watr changes, also he uses the same rock in his DT.

Agreed - so long as it is TRUE base rock (been devoided of any and all life and/or traces of it (spores/eggs/etc).) you can add directly to tank with no negative effects as nothing is dying off. You will only be populating with new bacteria - not consuming waste from old bacteria like the case of "live rock" that has been allowed to dry and die.

Throw it out in the sun on a blanket for a couple weeks just to make sure. Just my opinion.
