I am about to start a 40G reef tank. I should have it ready for water and live rock tomarro. I will be using about 50 pounds and probably curing it in my tank. But I don't have my protein skimmer yet. It wont be hear for another 2 weeks. The skimmer will go in a 20 or 29G sump. Can I start curing my live rock using a Fluval 305 canister Filter I have? Or should I wait till I get my skimmer? If I do it soon, I can get the live rock for free. I am told it is in good condition but havent seen it myself yet so I don't know for sure. If it looks like garbage then I wont get it. But there is another guy who has some live rock that is cured, still in a tank, and has been running in the same tank for almost 15 years. He said he would sell me what I need for real cheap. He is down sizeing his tank and has way to much. If I got that rock could I run it in my tank for 2 weeks with my canister filter, no lights and my power head?
