Just poke it! If it's epoxy..it'll be hard..if its a sponge..well..it could take your finger off..so be careful.

    huh? pls explain...

I immediately thought sponge for the first picture... I have some sponges of this texture and color in my sump, though it grows in "finger" shapes and the closest thing I can find to an ID is "finger sponge" or "glove sponge". Look those two up and see if it looks similar to you...

I touched my "finger" sponge and it was WAAAY softer than I expected, felt like soft jelly... I was expecting a rougher texture.

    That's Casper ! Tell your wife don't worry, he's a friendly ghost.

Yes, sponge and cabbage coral. Your cabbage turn more brown once its exposed to more light. It appears that he was in darkness for a little while.

Well I poked at it and it's soft/squishy so I guess that means sponge..

On another note was gonna make a new thread for this but since I posted the pics of the leather here and it's story figured here is the best spot to continue.

Remember this was the upside down and semi beaten coral that is back in the first post of this thread..

Curious what you think at this point is it just spliting, still stressed and such or is it toast at this point?

These are all oriented correctly ie. up in the pic is up .. used camera sideways for first two shots.

Reason I think splitting is the "seam" up the center in shot 1 and 2..

Reason i semi think "toast" is how hung to the side it is.

reason think still just stressed etc is what would be the top does seem to be getting a bit of colour slowly..

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Cabbages are pretty darn hardy. Probably just still acclimating. They do not like the intense light needed for most stony corals. It is really hard to kill them IME.
