Sorry hips, I would skip rays unless you have a 400 gal+ tank that is short with a HUGE footprint. Rays are tough to keep, get huge and need LOTS, and LOTS of room!! Please leave them in the OCEAN!!
A guy in our club who has a 470 gal or something has tried a few blue spotted rays, all have died in less than 5 days he said...

there are a couple of rays that stay relatively small and are pretty hardy - California ray is one and there is a small Caribbean ray (yellow ray)? they aren't that expensive. the blue spotted ray is very well know for NOT surviving in captivity.

rays need a big tank footprint. Even the smallest rays most likely need a 6 foot long tank that is at least 30 inches wide. bigger species need much larger tanks, yet. rays need a lot of room on the bottom, not too much rock. tankmates will be limited, as many fish will pick at rays. and water quality needs to be pristine.
