I have a 90 gallon I am about to setup. I also have a metal stand for it. The previous owner had the metal stand sitting directly on their laminate flooring. She had some water, probably from water changes trickle down the metal. It rusted some of the metal stand on the bottom which left marks on the floor.

    My questions are:

1.) I have laminate flooring in my office, I dont want to scratch it up or if some water gets to the same spot have any rust spots on my floor. What do you recommened for placing under a metal stand to help protect your floor?

I was considering using a foam matt that you can buy:

2.) I have been told that between the tank itself and the metal stand you should put down a peice of plywood first, then ontop of the plywood a peice of hard sytrofoam. then place the tank ontop of that. I have been told if you don't it will void a tanks warranty?

Manufacturers might have different way to void warranty's. If i were you i would buy a piece of carpet with the stand dimensions and place it under there. And maybe a piece of painters plastic under that so water doesn't get to your laminate.

+1 on that idea. You can either put down a piece of carpet, or a nice rug, or even a piece of laminate floor.
