I fly to PHL quite a bit for work and there is a really cool sculpture there called "Impulse" by Ralph Helmick (there are about 6 or so of these groups that move from a random bird flock to an airplane shape, this image is from the 4th one or so). It's in terminal A if you're ever there and want to check it out.

So, I got to thinking that a similar concept would make a stunning LED light fixture when we get around to building the large system (looking at next summer). I haven't done any of the actual engineering or planning of a system or anything because I still have a ton of research to do... But, I was wondering if there are any single LED pendants on the market. I can't seem to find any...

These LED pendants would be mounted to a "top plane" type of thing and hang down approximately 3' or so from it. The top plane would have to raise/lower a bit so I could get into the tank. I'd do it from my ceiling, but it's about 16' high over the location where I'm thinking of putting the tank (ceiling would be totally sweet if I could figure out how to make that work...).

At any-rate, the thought is to have each LED controlled individually (or in very small groups) which would allow for some really interesting lighting possibilities (could do cloudy days, simulate sun movement, moon phase, all kinds of crazy stuff).

I'll try and create some sort of visual so the concept is a bit more clear and post it up here.

    Thoughts anyone?

Appreciate any knowledge or thoughts anyone cares to share...

Thanks Reefbruh... I think it'd be pretty sweet, hopefully it'll work out. Here's a really crude visio drawing I made in an attempt to explain the concept a bit better. This is a front view.

Lol, that would be a sick looking light setup though, especially with a high ceiling!

I think after I posted I just figured out what he means. He wants like par30 bulbs with a single diode on each bulb???

ahh that makes more sense. it would be cool to have 1 cree led at the end of each one on its own little heatsink haha.
