custom made reactors?

hey guys i have a really crappy aquaeurousa skimmer V1 and i was thinking about customizing it to be a Ca reactor or a phosban reactor. here is the provided link to show you which kind of crappy skimmer i purchased Protein Skimmers its the nano skimmer I. i have a 10 gallon and i would like the run phosban reactor, im getting the slight chance that i might be able to pull it off ! any suggestions? im planning to go to home depot buy a capoff for the bottom and run a powerhead from the bottom then removing the top and add another capoff and let the whole from where the original powerhead use to be, be the outlet so water can flow through there. any input? do you think it would work guys?
