    I would strongly consider not using the overflow from your other tank if it is a HOB overflow.

    There are a lot of ways to do an overflow, but the HOB ones are accidents waiting to happen.

    You can go crazy or simple with drilled overflows, most are either silent or darn close to it.

    I know the glass holes ones are a nice pre engineered unit that don't cost a lot.

    I know it would mean more plumbing, but have you considered moving the return pump just to the left of your bubble trap and having the fuge on the far left. That way you can bypass a portion of the drain water over to the fuge. This will help to keep the flow down so the algae, pods, etc. can really thrive.
