    Hi Guy's

Rather than going with the Neo Nano I'm thinking about DSA building be a similar tank, it would be 24.5"x 24.5"x 18" It's the same footprint of the Neo Nano but 4" taller. It also would not have the water fall tower and side intakes but would have the center overflow, drilled bottom. The height would be 18" all sides and not have the tall back wall. It will still be rimless.

Do you see any problems with this tanks dimension? Is there anything I should change?

Just out of curiosity why did you decide to go taller. IMO its easier to stack rock work with a larger footprint that is not as tall. Also more light will get to lower corals in the tank if its not as tall.

I've read a few reviews where there was an issue with keeping fish, another said it was hard to locate his mp 10. To low it would blow sand, raising it to correct that caused to much movement at top. Also, the tank will be able to be viewed sitting in the living room so it will be nice to have a bit more to look at. This will also give me some more water volume that I wanted. The area where the tank will be placed is 30" wide so the 24.5" width is perfect, so is depth.

All good arguments. I have also found its very hard to place an MP10 without blowing sand or sucking air from the surface. It sounds like you have thought it through very well. I think it will work great for you.

Unless you really can't go longer or wider, I would try to. Taller tanks have poorer gas exchange due to the volume to surface area ratio. Why not make it 30" wide, the same as where it's going? Or make it 29" wide? The longer dimension would give you more to look at and still allow you to place your mp10 where it will function properly.

Thanks, I was looking at the Neo Nano, Elos Mini and Solana. Mini is beautiful but to small, Solana is a nice size but I want to have a sump, plus I hear the back wall is hard to clean. The Neo Nano has pretty close to everything I am looking for but the tall back wall, return holes at bottom blowing sand, and a couple other little things made up my mind to just look into a custom tank based on the Neo Nano footprint

I'll still be able to use the Neo's sump and I'll be building my own stand. I'll have to save a little longer but I'll have a tank that I'll be happy with from the start.

I pretty much need to stay at 24" x24". Would 16" tall be better than 18"?

Would I be better off going 16" rather than 18"?
