I just bought some monipota and star polyp and would like to take a piece of each and start them somewhere else. I'm not sure if I should use a razer blade or brake it with my hand or any other way? I also don't know if I do it in or out of the water?
    Thanks

A razor blade will work on the star polyps. But for sps, you will want to get some bone cutters, or something similar. and you can do it out of the water, just be quick about it.

I prefer "bone nippers" over "bone crusher/cutter". With a nipper you're actually "breaking/snapping" the coral vs. cutting it...this seems to do less damage to the tissue and it heals/regrows faster.

Can I get bone nippers at a hardware store like home depot?

No they are a surgical tool. This is the type I'm talking about:

Wire cutters will do basically the same thing but you will have rust issues...even the stainless bone nippers have rust issues with SW...but they are much easier to keep clean.
