Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you have done this and would like to tell me how you did it. It sounds kind of ridiculous asking this question because it sounds kind of obvious but how do you guys cut your frag plugs? I have a small colony of red hornet zoanthids on a frag plug. I want to trim down the plug portion and just keep the disc. I did this once with my other frag plug and the zoa colony came off it. Is there an easy way of doing this? Btw used a hand saw and that caused the shaking of the frag, making the zoas to come off.

Ive taken a razor to score a line on top of the plug. Then take a pair of bone cutters and cut on that line. It should snap it down that line giving you 2 equal halfs of the plug.
At least thats what ive always done!

    Lineman's Pliers

I have a pair of Lineman's Pliers I bought at Lowes or any hardware store. Their great for cutting of the stem part of the plug. I buy a lot of frags (SPS), and when I mount them in the tank I normally don't use the stem, so I snip that part off. Hold the frag steady in your hand, and def watch the fingers :) Hope this helps!

Shop Kobalt 8-in Lineman Plier at Lowes.com

FYI, they make coral fragging kits that you can get at any online aquarium vendor. Usually around $50-70 and include everything you should need to achieve this :)
