First of let me say that I knew what the possibilities were when I bought it. I have the a giant Green Death Star in my 90 at my store that is a known fish eater.

But I've never had problems with banded brittles, ever period. Until this jerk. I've had a couple fish come up missing. One of purple firefish for one.
Tonight I just watched the star drag my GBTA under the rocks. I had just fed the nem, the star was going after the silverside I'm sure but the point is it tore my nem loose and drug it under the rock.

So I just got done putting my rock back together after tearing part of it to get the nem back and the star out.

I'm going to do the chop it in half I've always wanted to try but never wanted to hurt my starfish possibly kill it experiment.

    Should I video it?

I am at a loss as you why you are cutting it in half.

    :-(

Not my favorite invert, but I still do not see the reason if you can catch it and get rid of it easily.

    What I am missing?

So he has one he already does not like and wants two?

Forget it, this seems like a lesson in thread frustration. :-(

That is what I was thinking too. But I'd like to record it just the same.

Not to punish the starfish Cheryl. To see if I can make it regenerate into two starfish. I've always been curious to see but never wanted to chance it. Now I have the opportunity because it isn't going back in my tank anyhow and the 90 already has the GIANT GreenDeath Star.

i always keep my least favorite fish and inverts for the experiment, i once had a condy that ate a yellow tang and i decided to try and cut it in half to get two nems and the thing is it actually worked so now i had two large condy's ended up selling them both though. i say do it it would be really interesting to see the results, ive seen this done successfully with a choclate chip before.

As much as I'd like to I've decided against it. This isn't the only forum I posed the question on.

I'm curious though. Why is it o.k. to meat cleave a maxi mini in half, perform a bi-section with a scalpel on a RBTA, frag an Acro or chop a Rhodactis into a pie? These are all animals too, with living flesh.

If I had done it and was successful the two stars would go to the same place the one is going next time I make the trip to Sioux Falls.

agreed. my LFS cuts legs off starfish to feed harlequin shrimp..doesnt kill the starfish...it regrows it back....if u decided to go on with the experiment, be sure to go straight down the middle if you want 2 starfish otherwise it will be a fail...but even that doesnt mean both sides will die...

Most questions like that, the answer is cuteness. I'm not sure why its much different, they can all grow new parts when split.
