Hey guys its that time again when I ask a completely fish unrelated question because this is the only form I use and because you guys have helped me many times before.

I'm laying 12" patio pavers in my back yard. I dont want to rent a wet saw and pay $70, Id rather buy a tool for a little less and keep it. Few people mentioned to me using angle grinders. So I have been looking at I narrowed it down to:

    Shop PORTER-CABLE 4-1/2" 7.5-Amp Angle Grinder at Lowes.com

    &

    Shop DEWALT 4 -1/2" 7-Amp Heavy-Duty Small Angle Grinder at Lowes.com

Is DeWalt worth the extra $20 and is 7 or 7.5ams enough to cut concrete type paver. Or should I shelf out another 20 and go for a 10amp dewalt ?

Shop DEWALT 4-1/2" 10-Amp Corded Small Angle Grinder Grinder at Lowes.com

    Thank you.

go with the dewalt grinder. make sure you use a diamond blade. and watch your fingers.

the easiest way to cut the the paver's is to score it on face(the side that will be seen) and then tap it with a hammer on non used side or the cut. Score almost to the center.

If its really soft paver, you can get away with throwing a diamond blade on a regular saw, but i only do that when cutting fake stone, which is softer and thinner then most paver's.

Agree with ets. And if ur not experianced in cutting tiles w/o track to align the cut I'll end up by wasting lots of tiles and ur work is not gonna look good. Get something with a track , wet or dry don't matter. The water will keep the blade cool so it will last longuer and ull have less dust. But the tracks ts what you need for a nice looking and ailgned cuts

you dont need all of that for paver's, if your going from one end to another, and the cuts are on one side of say a drive way. i have used a grinder to score and tap cut, the paver gets locked in with sand. If you were doing tile, then get a tile saw. I have worked as a hoddcarrier for years working with masonry. grinder's save time walking back and forth from the saw. If you have never had experience with a grinder then rent the saw.

Ok do non of the ablove. I am a msaon by trade and cut stone daily. I also do own a landscape co and an pond and fountain store. Here is what you need go to your local mason shop and get a 7 1/4 diamond bit mason saw to go on a skill saw its 25 bucks and then go to lows and get a skill saw for 20 you will be able to cut everything you need with a skill saw and have good cuts does not matter if wet or dry you can cut either way. I have a ton stocked at my shop if you cant find any I can ship one. You take a pencil to mark the stone and cut with the saw. I can send pics of our work most is cut with these we have wet saws and road saws with diamond blades some costing 275 for the blade alone but this my friend is an easy one.

Never used a saw or grinder hehe, but then again I never did lots of this before I got this house and I was forced to learn. The pavers will have sand between then so I dont think Ill be able to see my perfect or unperfect cuts very much. THe problem is that its not all same cuts, and some will be triangle cuts >. Iam not laying 3$ per sf pavers, its cheap 1.29$/sf pavers so... I figure after I get a decent looking patio table set no one will pay attention to them anyway, as long as they are somewhat straight looking hehe.

Grinders will not give an even cut on pavers not if its a straight cut if its a irrigular cut yes but for a straight cut no.
