Ok, so long story short I had a HUGE nitrate explosion in my tank where luckily I only lost one frogspawn and everything else is bouncing back very well. To get my nitrates down from where they were to zero now I did quite a few water changes and starting dosing NOPOX. It's a 55 gal tank so at first I did 6 ml a day then came down to 4ml day and now I'm at 2 ml a day. My nitrates are at zero ( API test kit) but I'm getting a lot of green cyano on my sand and only on my sand. I'm guessing its because my phosphates are still high or higher than they need to be. I've tested them using both the API kit and the Sera PO4 kit and they both test out at 0 but I know these aren't the most accurate kits out there ha.

My question is: can I keep dosing NOPOX and run GFO in a reactor at the same time? Also can this be a permanent thing, like dose NOPOX 1-2 ml a day and still run GFO in a reactor? I ask this because its seems to me that NOPOX works extremely well with reducing nitrates but not as much with phosphates so if the GFO will take care of the PO4 and the NOPOX take care of the NO3 then that would be the perfect combo.

Also, CAN I dose NOPOX everyday or will it harm the tank and I should stop now that me nitrates are 0?

I have no direct experience with that Red Sea product
but I do have some carbon dosing experience, which in essence is what the NOPOX product is

Yes you can dose on a daily basis
and yes running GFO at the same time as using this or any other carbon source, is often required for the reasons you have experienced in that the ratio between Nitrate and Phosphate is not linear and you can still have an excess of Phosphate when Nitrate seems no longer present

Carbon sources, of various types can also fuel cyno, which is a bacteria

so whilst running the GFO and NOPOX you may also want to deal with the cyno, by other means
Syphon to remove at water changes
increase flow, without redistributing your sand bed
