Cyano Bacteria?

i HAVE HAD MY TANK RUNNING SINCE JUNE 24TH. i HAVE A RED GROWTH ON MY LR, IT'S NOT SLIMY OR STRINGY RATHER LOOKS LIKE TURF. hOW DO I KNOW WHATS CYAN BACTERIA, I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND GOOD PICTURE OF IT. IS IT ALWAYS RED AND SLIMY OR ARE THERE VARIOUS TYPES?

 

Cyano can range from red to green and even black. But to my knowledge it doesnt look like "turf". It can cover up your rock or substrate (or pretty much anything for that matter) like a slime but never grass like. So what you have is probebly not cyano... can you post a pic?

There are many forms of cyano, some looks like green truff algae, comes in red and brown also. The only good pics are in Littler's Algae ID books. A pic would be good so is hard to say. There are many forms of red turf algae, that is red alage. Since it is on LR it may indeed be red algae.

The pic was just an example of cyano that looks Red Algae. Lets hope you have real red algae

cyano can normally be blown off with a turkey baster or sucked off when doing a water change. What you might a have is a Red Algae rather cyano which is a bacteria. Also as cyano grows more on the rock or sand it will actually start to lift off with bubbles under it. Hope this helps.

With a tank started in June, bet on Cyno. The red stuff in the picture looks like it too, but it's a little small to be sure. It's fairly normal at this point.

Just keep up with the water changes. You may want to aim a power head at it. Make sure you are not over feeding. Remember, you need to create a high flow nutrient poor environment to get rid of it.

 

Well I Have Alot Of Flow In My Tank Point At The Rocks, The Red "stuff" Is Hard And Like Turf And Burgundy Red. My Nitrates And Phosphates Are 0.

PO4 and NO3- being zero really means nothing. Your kit is only measuring one form of phosphate, PO4. Reefs are an example where with your kit they will also measure zero. They can pull in nitrates and PO4 as fast as it is fromed in many cases.

I can not really tell by the first 3 pics. The last one kinda' looks like red coralline algae.

What do you mean by "hard" , Coralline is fairly hard, like a shell. "Turf" means it kind looks like short grass and is kinda' stiff.
