Cyano in Fuge

    I have cyano in my fuge. I have never had it in my DT. (knocks on wood). Should I siphon the cyano out or leave it? I know you want a dirty fuge, but I don't want to risk it spreading to my dt. Thoughts?

    Leave it in there. The reason it's growing in there is that conditions are better for it there. It probably has less flow and better lighting. As long as these conditions are kept any cyano that tries to grow in the DT won't be able to compete for the nutrients.

    Yes, the key to a fuge is to exhaust algae causing nutrients somewhere out of view. One of the best ways to exhaust these nutrients is by growing algae down there. Macro does a lot of the work, but some nasty stuff helps a lot too.

    Just make sure it doesn't smother whatever else you have in there. I've had cyno smother out ulva and cheato before. That's OOC status for sure.

    I think he means OCD, but I'm prolly wrong.

    The cyano is growing on some cheato. I will remove those parts.
