SF420, said another way, light enables algae to utilize nutrients. Limiting light, limits nutrient utilization. This therefore limits the potential of reducing the bioavalibility of any given nutrient, below the range required by the chaeto. If this does happens, the cyano may have a competitive advantage.

Right? So, I don't think what I suggested confilcts with your experience?

There are two ways I can think of, that this could happen. If the light source was very yellow, say 3000K. As, this could allow the cyano to more efficiently use the nutrients than the macro algae. If not, if say you're using a standard 6500K bulb, or at least over 5000K, or so, this suggests to me, that your system could handle the nutrient load without the macro algae. This is because you chaeto is working so little, that the nutrients would otherwise be removed by other means. As your system expands though, you may want more light and a bigger fuge to help keep up with the extra nutrients.

This all dosn't really matter though if your happy with the results. At least for now, until your system expands. Of course you post enough, i assume without refaholics anonymous it will ;D

Well what I did yesterday was change out the fuge light bulb then was my normal water change day so I siphoned off the rocks in the cracks there seemed to be alot of gunk comming out then I took an airline tube and cleaned all the rocks in my fuge. So will see were that gets me.

In the fuge there was a few things of cyano but not as much as I thought. In the tank there was 1 spot the size of a quater. Was thinking maybe there was food stuck in the rocks Have a few that have some deep craters in them and thought maybe there was not enough movement to get the stuff out of there.

Gonna also invest in some mp40's soon so hopefully that ebb and flow will help improve that a little will see. But as for right now its looking good! will see if it comes back
